John Coleman 87, of Phelps KY departed this life, Sunday,
October 28, 2018 at his home.
He passed while in the loving care of his caretakers; Tabitha and Sabrina.
He was born June 6, 1931 at Coleman, KY, the son of; the late Frank and Alma Reedy Coleman.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty five years; Della Mae Dotson Coleman, four brothers; Frank JR (Doc) Marvin,
James Ed (Preacher), Ferrell (Sampy) and William Coleman (B. Ward), four sisters; Sarah Jane Stump, Nell Boyer, Lula Coleman and June Coleman.
John was a proud, United States Marine Corps veteran, who was well known in the community where he has served, for forty five years as a deputy for the Pike County KY Sheriff's Dept. He also served as bailiff in family court and was a coal miner. He was a good friend and neighbor to all and will be missed by many.
Honoring services will be held in the Phelps Funeral Services Chapel with, the Reverends; Pastor Steve Spurlock and Pastor Benny Freeman officiating.
The funeral will be Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with Military Rites performed by the Belfry Chapter D.A.V.
Burial will follow in the Dotson Cemetery of Phelps, KY with the Pike County Sheriff's Dept. serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends in the chapel Wednesday evening from 6:00-9:00 P.M. with special singing.
Chapel will close at 10:00 P.M.
