Misouria Chapman Smith, 86, of Barrenshea, traded this life of sorrow and strife for a land of unclouded day, on Good Friday, April 14, 2017, in the comfort of her home as was her longtime fervent prayer.
She was born December 15, 1930, in Pike County, Kentucky. She was of the Pentecostal faith and fully trusted in her loving Savior, Jesus Christ. She was faithful and steadfast and endured until the end.
Members of her family circle awaiting her in her new home include: her parents, Sidney and Georgia Johnson Chapman; her husband, Boyd Smith; her beloved son, Roger Lee Wolford; her loving granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Mounts; her son-in-law, Jim Casey; two brothers, John and Jackie Chapman; four sisters, Sandra Gail Chapman, Alene Kolff, Venia Rayburn, Lana Kay Kays; four step-children, Clyde Smith, Leroy Smith, Ted Smith, and Wanda Shankles; and one step-grandson, Steven Boyd Smith.
Members of her family left to mourn her loss include her broken-hearted daughters, Sandra “Chops” Casey of Cicero, Illinois, Charlene (Greg) Hensley of Woodman, Kentucky, and Maureen (John) Schweitzer of West Bend, Wisconsin; three brothers, Sidney (Bonnie) Chapman, Jr. of Freeburn, Kentucky, Grant Lee (Kim) Chapman of Boaz, Alabama, and Allen (Zenna) Chapman of Cicero, Illinois; three sisters, Maxine (Jose) Hernandez of Berwyn, Illinois, Priscilla (Gene) Peterson of Dallas, Wisconsin, and Ona Lee “Charlotte” (Richard) Flippo of Caruthersville, Missouri; five grandsons, Clifford Dean (Jodi) Mounts of Braidwood, Illinois, Robbie (Lisa) Wolford of Waupun, Wisconsin, Mike (Maria) Wolford of West Bend, Wisconsin, Jeffrey Mounts of Springfield, Illinois, and Evan Hensley of Woodman, Kentucky; four granddaughters, Melinda Sue Mounts of Braidwood, Illinois, Kandace (Zan) Dick of Milton, West Virginia, Marissa (Bob) Pruitt of Milan, Ohio, and Meaghan (Ryan) Hensley of Norwalk, Ohio; three great-grandsons, Brandon (Robbie), Austin (Mike), and Christian (Melinda); five great-granddaughters, Megan (Clifford Dean), Olivia (Kim), Autum (Robbie), Natalee (Jeff), and Trinity (Mike).
one great-great grandson Landon (Megan)Special friends Brenda and Sam Norman, Juanita Norman, and Denise “Dee” Vasquez.
She was especially close to her first cousins Della Layne, Movita Church, Ethel Mitchell, Darlene Mounts, Carlene Chapman, and Shelby Jean Fields. Misouria will be remembered for her honesty, her feistiness, and her faithfulness.
Honoring services will be conducted in the Phelps Funeral Services Chapel with the Reverend; Kenny Chapman officiating.
The Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 12:00 Noon.
Burial will follow in Misouria's Memorial Garden of Barrenshe Creek RD, Freeburn, KY with family and friends to serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. with special singing following at 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with service following at 7:00 P.M.
